Mix of formats from 20 minute sprints to 50 minute mini-endurance races
Revolution UK Trophy and Radical SR3 Trophy to share grids at each round. The Sports Prototype Cup has revealed more details of its inaugural calendar. The 2019 season will feature races at six different circuits, beginning at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on April 27th and concluding with an end of year festival at the demanding Autodromo Algarve in Portugal.
The exact race distances will be announced shortly, but the outline plans are as follows:
Two of the circuits (Silverstone and Oulton Park) will host one day events, featuring two races of between 25 and 40 minutes.
The other circuits will host two day events with three races. One of these races will be a 50 minute event.
James Bailey, Sports Protototype Cup Promoter, said: “We’ve listened to both existing owners of Radical SR3s and buyers of the new Revolution Race Car. Both groups of customer have asked for a mix of formats to spice up the season. The longer 50 minute race can be tackled with two drivers or just one driver. We will publish the definitive formats in January when registrations open for the 2019 season”.
