Revolution and V de V collaborate on European prototype racing

  • Partnership formed to increase the Revolution A-One’s international presence

  • Revolution to be showcased during V de V’s race weekend in November

  • Talks ongoing to form a pan-European race series

Revolution Race Cars and V de V Sports have formed a new collaboration that could lead to the formation of a pan-European series for the Revolution A-One prototype race car.

The relationship between Revolution and V de V will be showcased this November when the Revolution Trophy, which has a five-year contract to run within the Sports Prototype Cup, races during V de V’s prestigious Les 2 Tours d’Horloge weekend at Le Castellet on 6-7 November.

The 440hp/tonne Revolution A-One is one of the most exciting new race cars on the market, offering a high performance level between the LMP3 category and the Radical SR3 but with affordable running costs and an accessible driving style.

Phil Abbott, Managing Director and Founder, Revolution Race Cars said: “V de V has a long and well-earned reputation for running varied and premium prototype race events across Europe. We share the same vision in building high quality, customer-focused and cost-effective race programmes. Revolution’s showcase during Les 2 Tours d’Horloge is the first step towards potentially forming an international race series.”

V de V Sports has been organising and promoting race events for a variety of racing categories for over 25 years. It has revived Les 2 Tours d’Horloge as a 24-hour endurance race for historic cars and is putting together an exciting event surrounding the race, which will include the Revolution Trophy, the BARC Radical SR3 Trophy and the Sports Prototype Open on the programme.

Eric Van de Vyver, founder, V de V stated: “We’ve been excited about the Revolution since first seeing the prototype two years ago. Having witnessed its performance, we believe it will be a great complement to our family of events and is a wonderful stepping stone to LMP3.”

Sports Prototype Cup is currently the only race series in the world to have a dedicated class for the Revolution A-One with its Revolution Trophy, which will also race during the FIA World Endurance Championship event at Spa-Francorchamps on 14-15 August. Sports Prototype Cup, including the Le Castellet rounds, is promoted and administered by PitBox91.

James Bailey, Director, PitBox91 and Sports Prototype Cup promoter said: “We have built strong long-term collaborations with UK partners such as Britcar and the British Automobile Racing Club. To work with V de V on building a wider international calendar for Revolution owners is a major boost for the Cup and our customers.”

Sports Prototype Cup expects a 20+ strong grid to take part in the pair of one-hour races at Le Castellet. Race-hire packages are available for the full season, including for Spa and Le Castellet. Further adding to the excitement for Le Castellet, Sports Prototype Cup plans to add other classes to the grid and will announce these soon.
